Biography

My interest and participation in the art process began very early in my life and I have actively pursued it since. For over 20 years, I have been involved as a professional, practicing and teaching artist, with a concentration in painting, drawing, and three-dimensional art. The proficiency that I have gained in my profession, the maturity and sensitivity that the accumulation of living experiences has brought; my interest in history, culture, contemporary art, science, writing, and ecology, has given me focus and discipline which transfers into my work.

I have a passion for art in its creation and manifestation. The aesthetic of art; the sense of wonder that is articulated through creative expression, investigation and experimentation, is coupled with the mastery of technical skills and knowledge of art fundamentals. This blend of the imaginative and formal issues is the basis of my work as an artist.

I am a professional working and teaching artist in the Detroit area. After receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree from Bennington College in Vermont, I have taught at Oakland Community College, Wayne State University, and College for Creative Studies in Detroit, and am presently teaching at The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center and occasionally at the Detroit Art Institute.
